Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.

Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.

I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.

Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.

So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.

They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.

Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.

And keep supporting the writers' strike.

The above entry was written at Deva’s Restaurant while I was on a break from court. I was a deputy Public Defender in Modesto California. The 3 strikes law had been effect since March 1994. With the right prior convictions, a person could get life for a minor current offense. I handled many of the office's 3 strikes cases It was a continual horror show.

I learned as a volunteer when working with men with aids helping them through their illness and death to keep one foot outside of the story so as not to fall in. The same rule applys to criminal law practice. If you are consumed by their story, you lose your perspective.

Life was tough and tried hard to make me feel wrong about myself. That’s the nature of criminal law practice.

But now, as then, I work out, write, and now also swim in the ocean to turn those arrows out for even for a brief time. (I still practice criminal law)

like I need Erin Fitzgerald as Chie. and Yuri Lowenthal as Yosuke. and Johnny Yong Bosch as Yu and Adachi. and so on.

I understand why SEES got a whole new cast. There was controversy, and a couple of members had already been recast a few times anyway, so a fresh cast made sense.

I feel like the ITs voices are too. iconic? at this point though? and I'm fairly certain all of them are still very active in voice acting too. so I'd hope that at least some of them would be able to come back.

What gives me hope is that Tara Platt got to come back as Elizabeth. and now that he's not voicing Makoto and Ryoji, Yuri's Yosuke will sound more distinct.

I know it's been over 15 years, and that some of them are very likely going to be recast, but I'd still prefer and love for the cast to get the chance to come back if they'd like to :3

i saw some tags on a post recently saying that the poster would not go to the doctors even if they were severely ill, and would rather chance it being cared for by their own community

and i'm sorry but. this is anti-vaxxer logic, this is the same talk those culty essential oils mums spout

medical care systems are flawed around the world, yes, and they need to be reformed, yes. but i don't think this "all doctors/therapists are just like cops" narrative is a good one or even useful

demand better, but don't reinforce the all medical care is bad narrative, because you are shooting yourself in the foot and are like 2 steps away from cult thinking

In 2021, after my grandmother died (2020), ironically, a musical about death (Beetlejuice) helped me in this stage (Same as when the pandemic was going on and people were dying, and my defense mechanism against it was quite disturbing in retrospect...)

Now it's 2024 and you see a lot of people dying (Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Syria, Bangladesh, etc…), now a musical probably won't help (Especially when you boycott Broadway for supporting Israel)

You see collections going too slowly, or stuck at a certain amount and not wanting to move at all

You see how people enjoy productions from companies that are boycotted, and one of the films was the biggest profit…

I just want to put out such a genuine thank you to everyone who worked on this season of Good Omens. I know everyone’s been joking about how Neil/everyone should sleep with one eye open and as funny as that is I think is so important to also show our immense appreciation. I saw a great thing about boycotts vs strikes, and wanted to emphasize that point.

DONT STOP GOING TO THE THEATERS. KEEP GOING. ASK AMC/THEATER FOR OLD MOVIES IF THEY DONT HAVE NEW ONES.

Why?

We all know movie theaters get their money from food sales more than ticket sales.

The theaters have to pay exorbitant licensing fees for new movies and frequently on an individual basis. But that's how studios got so wealthy in the first place.

However studios will lease older movies for less money, and do a bulk deal for each studio. Anytime those license deals are setup, actors and writers get paid in residual money.

So, you go to the theater.

You keep the theater open,showing them there's money to be had in showing old movies.

You pay actors & writers directly.

You even give studios an indicator of "Oh hey, we're not making as much as we COULD if we just stop being jerks about it."

Make them cave.

Drive up Demand.

Go to The Movies.

i think. that ppl in north gaza are some of the most incredible humans that have ever existed. for staying. for experiencing the worst of the worst. for being the bravest possible. and it is because the unarmed palestinians are still there that hamas and any other resistance fighters are able to continue to fight and hold onto the landscape. that is how each palestinian is an automatic resistance fighter. that i show existance is resistance in this moment for palestinians in gaza. there is so much bravery i think people will spent centuries just trying to articulate it. i think the journalists and story tellers in north gaza, they are so brave. i think the beings are so brave. i think the beings there are so revolutionary. every being. the earth being in existance, the plants that continue to grow in the face of bombs and weapons i cannot imagine. the other animals like cats and birds and every being i cannot name still surviving, still finding refuge, still breathing and not just giving up si so incredible. i am in beyond awe. i am so irrevocably changed by genocide. i am so fundementally different.
